Last night we began the emotionally grueling process of not letting our baby boy Bronson sleep in bed with us overnight. He’d been sleeping in bed with us since Day 1, but recently his behavior has been a bit uncontrollable, as he’s growing ever stronger day by day. My boyfriend did some research and found that by sleeping with us in bed, our dog has gotten the impression that we’re his equals, not superiors. I hate that. I love him so much and we truly view him as our child. But he is an animal, after all, and needs to learn that he has to listen to us in order for everyone to live in harmony. So last night, my boyfriend made him sleep on the couch, and he looked so confused and sad. But of course, when I woke up this morning, Bronson was in bed with us, like normal. Neither of us knew when he’d jumped over, but it’s pretty clear that this is not going to be an easy process for either party.
